Good Friday/Easter Thoughts

I know that most people love Christmas and the whole Christmas season. I do to. But I also love Lent, and this Good Friday and Easter week. I pull out Handel's Messiah (which I read somewhere was acually written for Easter) and try to spend time contemplating the enormity of what God did in sacrificing His Son - for me. This thought overwhelms me. I know the sinfulness that exsists in my heart. I know how unfaithful I am in so many ways. And yet - God's love and grace covers me! Sometimes I don't even understand how that can be.

Yesterday while listening to some praise music I heard this hymn again. I think the words speak for themselves.

O Sacred Head, Now Wounded

With grief and shame weighed down,

Now scornfully surrounded

With thorns, Thine only crown
